Question

Do you recognise the need for greater communication between Transport for London (TfL) and London boroughs to ensure quietway routes are fully joined up and do not feature gaps, as will be the case with quietway 4 where it traverses Wandsworth Common?

In the case of Quietway 4, TfL has worked closely with the London Borough of Wandsworth and the London Borough of Merton to develop the route and has provided design, consultation and project management support through Sustrans, TfL's Delivery Agent for Quietways.

In relation to Catsback Bridge, despite the request from TfL and LB Wandsworth for the new bridge to provide a higher level of service to cyclists and pedestrians, Network Rail would not re-design the bridge to provide a wider facility.

On balance, TfL believe that routing Quietway 4 cyclists via Catsback Bridge is still preferable to the nearby busy roads.
