Following the recent HIV testing week in November, where City Hall hosted the Terrence Higgins Trust and Positive East, and the recent YouGov survey which found that approximately one-third of Britons think you can catch HIV by sharing a toothbrush with someone who is infected, what further work will be undertaken over the new year to raise awareness of HIV to Londoners?

I am grateful to Terence Higgins Trust and GMI for their work to better inform City Hall staff and visitors during HIV testing week.

The next major piece of work to raise awareness of HIV in London will be the launch of the next phase of the Do It London campaign early in the new year. Do It London includes multimedia communications about HIV for all Londoners, with specific campaigns targeted at key at-risk groups. It is jointly commissioned by all 33 of London's local authorities as part of the London HIV Prevention Programme and is a great example of partnership work on an important public health issue.
