This year, City Hall hosted more Black History Month events than ever before, which undoubtedly shows our commitment to this important celebration. Our events included a photographic exhibition that is still being displayed outside the Chamber; a screening of Shakespeare's King Lear as well as a new C.L.R. James documentary. We also held a production of the Black Heroes Foundation's new show, and visited the wonderful Black Cultural Archives in Brixton. Finally, we hosted the excellent Africa on the Square extravaganza. We also have plans to develop these celebrations in coming years.

We recognise the issues facing those planning Black History Month events. We intend to review the whole area of these celebrations, with a view of ascertaining the best way we can contribute to them. The Community Relations team will be in touch once these discussions have been concluded.
