Tackling violence against women and girls is a key focus of my Mayoralty, as I know it is for you too.

That is why I am making sure that there is a specific section in my Police and Crime Plan dedicated to tackling this issue.

As part of this, I want to put in place a new Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy (VAWG) to run from the end of the current strategy, that builds on the excellent work that is going on across the sector, but looks to do more for women and girls in London.

Consultation on the new VAWG strategy will include the London Assembly, statutory and voluntary sector partners and will also ensure that we hear the voice of victims, survivors and women and girls across London.

The current VAWG strategy runs until November 2017, so we will be planning for consultation to begin in advance of this.
