I support the MPS to do their job efficiently and effectively and the focus will be on the quality of all of its staff and how they are equipped, trained and deployed and not simply on officer numbers.

The MPS has a rigorous recruitment process to ensure that only the best and most suitable candidates are accepted. The MPS has also run dedicated recruitment campaigns for particular skills, such as second languages, as well as acquiring further talent through dedicated programmes such as Police Now and Direct Entry for Superintendents and Inspectors.
