MOPAC and the MPS are committed to working in partnership with schools to keep young people safe, increase trust and confidence in policing, and divert more young people away from criminality. Safer Schools Officers encourage the police, children, young people, school staff and parents to build good relationships, based on trust and mutual respect.

For 2015/2016 there were 282 MPS Safer Schools Officers working with Secondary Schools across London, costing a total of £15,398,892 per annum.

For the current year, 2016/2017, there are 292 Safer Schools Officers across the MPS, with an expected cost of £15,944,952 per annum.
