MOPAC recognises the growing issue of young women's involvement in youth crime and that the drivers and required offers of support differ between young women and men. The MPS is tackling this through combined focus on encouraging reporting, proactive teams working with victims, information sharing through the MASH process and greater cross border work between local authorities with gangs, and missing persons teams.

MOPAC commissions several specialist programmes of work in this area including the Youth Violence Intervention Programme currently operating in London's four Major Trauma Centres. This has recently expanded to focus on the wider vulnerabilities of young female victims of violence.

As we develop the Police and Crime Plan learning from our work will enable us to form a strategic response that works with MOAPC's approach to tackling all young people's involvement with harmful environments.
