The Mayor

The human rights of all children should be protected. It is true that there are some people of faith who have socially conservative views, as indeed there are many people of faith in London who have socially liberal views. One of the things that Londoners love about our city is that we respect difference and the freedom to think and say what we feel. However, that freedom is not an absolute right - it comes with responsibilities. It is not right to create an environment of hate, and it's important that people in positions of power and influence recognise that. I am happy to work with Government in this continuing fight.

My Deputy Mayor for Social Integration, Social Mobility and Community Engagement will be working closely with both LGBT stakeholders and faith communities on these and other issues as we develop our work on social integration.
