Question

The latest figures published by Public Health England show there were 434,456 sexually transmitted infections (STIs) reported in England in 2015; 54,275 of which were among men who have sex with men, a 10% increase since 2014. What steps will you take to inform Londoners of how to minimise the risks of contracting STIs?

Public Health England's data show that the STI diagnosis rate is worse in London than in England as a whole. This is completely unacceptable.

Public Health England recommends focusing the safe sex message on groups at highest risk and the regular testing for STIs including HIV. Discussions are ongoing about how City Hall can best add value to ongoing work in this important area.
