It is essential that Government funding for ultra-low emission vehicles is protected and increased if I am to be able to deliver the transformation to London's vehicle fleets we all want to see.

Central Government currently provides the following funding through the Office of Low Emission Vehicles. This funding comes from different funding streams which have different requirements but broadly speaking is for use during this Parliament (ie to 2020):

1. £10m for rapid charging infrastructure for specialist fleets (allocated from the National Infrastructure Plan)

2. £25m to provide top-up grants to taxi drivers to help them switch to zero emission capable taxis. TfL is complementing this with £40m for a taxi decommissioning scheme for the oldest taxis.

3. £13m through the Go Ultra Low City Scheme to help TfL and the boroughs deliver residential charging infrastructure, install electric bays for car clubs and to provide charge points for commercial fleets.
