I was elected on a mandate to improve air quality. On the 60th anniversary of the Clean Air Act I announced a consultation on a bold package of measures including

       An Emissions Surcharge from 2017 - or T-Charge - for the most polluting vehicles in central London;

       Plans to double the size of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone from 2020 or earlier; and

       A new, faster roll out of cleaner buses across London.

These are just some of the hard-hitting measures I'm proposing.

In response to Brexit, I also called on Government to adopt a new 21st Century Clean Air Act which will ensure that leaving the EU is not used as an excuse to water down existing standards and legal protections, while giving London and other cities the additional powers we need to more effectively tackle pollution at its source.
