Bob Blackman MP for Harrow East recently announced he is proposing a Private Members' Bill to Parliament aimed at preventing homelessness in London. Given what in my view were the farcical efforts of your predecessor to reduce homelessness in London, how will you tackle this problem for Londoners?

I intend to play a proactive role in supporting homelessness prevention, including through the forthcoming No Nights Sleeping Rough taskforce.

I am particularly keen to ensure that any new duty on local authorities to prevent homelessness operates effectively and is backed by additional government funding, so that that it does not place additional burdens on London boroughs already severely stretched by deep cuts to their budgets.
