Dial-a-Cab and other Black Taxi radio companies have been at the forefront of credit card payments in Black Taxis for over a decade and have had discussions in the past with TfL about the best ways to go about offering credit card payments. Why did TfL not consult directly with these companies until after the TfL Board had made its decision about how to mandate credit card payments?

TfL carried out a full public consultation last year on card payments in taxis. This gave the taxi radio circuits, taxi trade groups, individual taxi drivers and the general public the opportunity to share their views with TfL about mandating card payments. TfL also met with the taxi radio circuits and the trade groups, and their views were taken into account before the final decision was taken by the TfL Board on 3 February.

Details about the measures and milestones for card payments in taxis are in TfL's TPH Notice 06/16.
