Question

Would you please answer my question MQ 2016/0336? In your answer you describe the Europe Report and current and projected economic performance. What you do not outline is what steps you are taking presently to mitigate against the uncertainty the referendum will create. Am I to assume from your non-answer that you are not taking any action in this regard?

Answer

Answer for Europe

I have made clear that I believe London and the UK should be confident that leaving the EU will not lead to long term economic decline. Quite the opposite. My most recent report, London: the Global Powerhouse, presents in detail the strengths of the capital in a global economy and the opportunities for businesses based or seeking to set up in London. For example, London is Europe’s unrivalled financial centre and competes with the likes of New York, Singapore. Evidence suggests that leaving the EU would play to the capital’s global strengths, attractiveness to investors and creative more opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurialism.
