Between 2004 and 2012 TfL, through an external delivery partner, invested in upgrading and expanding the Walk London Network, including the Thames Path. This enhanced the physical quality of the routes including by improving surfacing and installing new wayfinding signs and better seating. TfL route enhancements were planned to coincide with the Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Games.

An audit to assess the condition of the Thames Path and identify any maintenance issues was undertaken in 2015. TfL is currently analysing the data and will share the results with the relevant boroughs and land owners in due course.

TfL is also engaging with stakeholders of the path, attending meetings of the Thames Path Partnership and the Tidal Thames Path Management Group.

Information, maps and guides on the Thames Path are available to download from the TfL website https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/walking/thames-path. In addition, TfL funds three weekends of guided walks a year to encourage people to walk and promote the Thames path and the Walk London Network.
