LoCITY is one of the actions outlined in my Ultra Low Emission Vehicle Delivery Plan. It aims to achieve the associated health benefits of improved air quality, as well as economic benefits for London.  King's College London estimates that poor air quality costs London up to £3.7 billion per year so everyone who lives and works in London will benefit from a switch to low emission vehicles.

LoCITY will engage with commercial fleet and haulage operators via a Fleet Advice Programme. This free, impartial guidance will outline the benefits of switching to low emission vehicles, and provide the necessary information to help operators understand how and where such vehicles can save them money This is a crucial element to increasing the uptake of low emission commercial vehicles as, while electric and bio-methane vehicles have higher upfront costs, they also have substantially lower running costs.

LoCITY will champion early adopters of cleaner alternative fuelled vehicles and will support real-world demonstration trials to prove the operational viability of low emission vehicles and technologies.

LoCITY has been received positively by the commercial fleet and haulage sector, with positive support from the Freight Transport Association.  Over 100 organisations attended the launch event in January 2016 and 30 organisations have signed up to the working groups.  Further details about LoCITY can be found at https://locity.org.uk/
