A CLoS assessment is one of a number of tools available during the development of a scheme and must be considered on a site specific basis.

The existing cycle lane is encroached by large vehicles. The proposal to replace this with a 4m wide general traffic lane at this location is considered safer for cyclists. It is expected to make drivers more cautious as they overtake cyclists, and would make cyclists more visible to general traffic and any large vehicles.
