Evidence and Insight is a dedicated in-house social science function with the aim of providing MOPAC advice in the evidence based delivery of the Police and Crime Plan. The work is presented at MOPAC strategic boards, shared with partners and much is in the public domain.  The range of work includes:

1)    Performance analysis/data visualisation. Key MOPAC objectives are routinely monitored - predominantly through a range of specifically designed Dashboards (nine of which are published); The Neighbourhood Confidence Comparator; The London Landscape and MOPAC Challenge analysis that enable innovative accountability.

2)    Original research/evaluation. This ranges from Randomised Control Trials (i.e. the recently published RCT on Body Worn Video) to smaller scale evaluations (i.e., the Alcohol Abstinence Monitoring Requirement (AAMR)).

3)    An expertise in survey design. The unit oversee a wealth of surveys (e.g., The Public Attitude Survey or the User Satisfaction Survey - each with over 14,000 responses a year).

4)    Academic liaison. Enabling MOPAC to draw on academic knowledge to aid decision-making, illustrated by The Institute for Global City Policing and The Global Policing Database.
