There are currently eight hydrogen fuel-cell buses on route RV1 between Covent Garden and Tower Gateway. A further two are being procured for introduction in 2017.

By 2020, there will be a requirement to have at least 300 zero emission single-deck buses operating in central London. The technologies selected will be determined by their operational performance, reliability, cost efficiency and potential to transform the entire fleet to zero tailpipe emissions at the earliest opportunity.
