There appears to have been a downward trend in this offence:

2013 - 14597 offences

2014 - 12107 offences

2015 to End Oct only - 9042 offences

The MPS are working with the Home Office Tackling Crime Unit to design a package to ensure consistency in recording and investigation of fuel theft related crimes across all forces as well as a coordinated approach from Police, government and industry in producing measures to prevent and reduce crime on petrol forecourts.
