TfL has not undertaken any detailed assessment of the additional infrastructure required at Old Oak Common, or the associated costs, if Old Oak Common station was used as a terminus for HS2.

TfL has undertaken a high-level passenger demand assessment with HS2 trains terminating at Old Oak Common and believe that the proposed station could cope with the anticipated levels of demand in Phase 1 of HS2. This is with little change to the currently proposed HS2 design but would require the two new Old Oak Overground stations that both TfL and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation proposes.

However, TfL do not believe the station or train service would be able to function safely and efficiently if all HS2 trains terminated there in Phase 2 of HS2.

TfL will continue to work with Network Rail, the Department for Transport and HS2 Ltd to ensure that a fit-for-purpose solution is developed for HS2.
