TfL has provided £20,000 in 2015/16 to LB Bexley to carry out initial feasibility work on options for cycle parking provision at the new Crossrail station at Abbey Wood. This builds on research by TfL which considered the forecast daily passenger demand, future cycle mode share for journeys to and from the station, types of bicycles (folding and non-folding) and spare capacity at the cycle hub. From this assessment, the borough is recommended to provide at least 370 cycle parking spaces around the station to cater for future demand but this figure will be kept under close review and more spaces provided should they be required. The feasibility assessment is due in December 2015 and will consider optimum locations for locating the cycle hub and recommendations for the mix of parking facilities. The design of the cycle hub will then be taken forward as part of the ongoing Crossrail station redevelopment and urban realm improvements.
