Answer for Holiday hunger

Answered By:
The Mayor

Child hunger during schools holidays is a real concern and I fully commend programmes that are helping to find solutions to the issue.  The holiday hunger projects that are currently being piloted by the Mayor's Fund for London also have my full support.  We are also looking to identify what other holiday hunger projects are being provided across London through the London Food Board Boroughs Working Group that is attended by borough representatives. This is to get a fuller picture of holiday hunger provision in the capital and to learn from these. In October, the Chair of the London Food Board, Rosie Boycott, will be hosting the launch of the London Food Poverty: Action Beyond the Food Bank report which will include an indicator on what steps are being taken in London boroughs to provide free meals 365 days a year for children living in poverty. This report (to be published by Sustain) will for the first time provide a comprehensive picture of the actions London boroughs are taking to reduce long-term food poverty.
