The MPS Roads and Transport Policing Command is aware of a level of non-compliance at the mandatory cycle lanes on CS8 during its hours of operation.

This location is one of the Cycle Safety Team's default patrol locations.  CS8 is kept under constant review in its entirety and is subject of regular prevention and enforcement activity.  CS8 is also part of Operation Safeway deployments.

TfL has been lobbying the Department for Transport (DfT) to enact the relevant sections of the Traffic Management Act to enable civil enforcement of mandatory cycle lanes by camera. This would allow TfL to enforce against moving traffic and make all road users aware that lane marking has a distinct meaning and is able to enforce it appropriately. In turn, this would send out a clear message to cyclists that they can use this infrastructure with confidence.
