The MPS states that between January 1st and 31st December 2014 there were 22 collisions involving cyclists or pedestrians where one or more people involved failed to stop as defined by the Road Traffic Act. This means they failed to stop in the immediate aftermath of the collision or failed to report it to the police within 24 hours. None of these investigations were concluded at the preliminary stage. Of the 22, 16 have either been charged with offences and are awaiting trial or have been convicted at Court. 3 cases are live investigations in that there are identified suspects who are subject of search activity and only 3 of the total remain unidentified and untraced at this time.
