My Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime has addressed its use in MOPAC Challenges on Intrusive Tactics, holding the MPS to account for the use and deployment of this tactic.  From this it has become apparent that the current form that officers complete on each deployment of Taser is insufficient for the purposes of oversight.  This is recognised by the Police Service nationally and David Shaw, Chief Constable of West Mercia, and NPCC lead for Use of Force is currently reviewing the collection of data around Taser deployments.  MOPAC and the MPS are involved in this review and believe that more detail about what the officer knew prior to the event would be valuable, including aspects relating to mental health.
