The Community RoadWatch scheme is not an enforcement initiative but supports TfL's and the Metropolitan Police Service's wider road safety and community engagement activity. Community RoadWatch gives local residents the opportunity to work side-by-side with their local police teams, and use speed detection equipment to identify speeding vehicles in their communities.  Warning letters are issued where appropriate, and the information captured is used to inform future police enforcement activity. Community RoadWatch will take place on 20mph, 30mph and 40mph roads, where it is safe to do so and where the local community has identified speeding as a concern.
