The MPS has been piloting the use of body worn video (BWV) in frontline policing.  The Stop and Search Community Monitoring Groups (CMGs) have welcomed this initiative and the potential benefits it could bring in terms of transparency and accountability.

The MPS has a duty to safeguard officers and the public. The CMGs have generally not had access to the BWV material.   However, for the purposes of the pilot the Chair of the Community Monitoring Network (the CMGs' umbrella group) has reviewed sample footage in order to understand what kind of material is generated.
