Since the last Autumn Statement, where Government provided financial support to develop the case for Crossrail 2, TfL has been working in partnership with Network Rail and the Department for Transport (DfT). TfL has submitted comprehensive evidence which demonstrates the benefits of the project to London, the wider South East and the entire UK, which the Government has welcomed, and a summary of which will be published later this month..

We are seeking additional Government funding for Crossrail 2 in the forthcoming Spending Review to enable the scheme to develop at pace towards an application for powers in the coming years. I am confident that the Government will continue to support Crossrail 2, in line with the Conservative Party manifesto commitment, and recognising the strong case we have made.

I hope that you will join me in advocating the urgent need for investment in this new railway, as part of the upcoming Spending Review.
