Answer for Diesel surcharge

The Mayor

Parking permit applications and their tariffs are set by local authorities rather than the Mayor or TfL. I support the efforts of London's boroughs to improve air quality and that is why I have provided £20m through the Mayor's Air Quality Fund to help boroughs tackle local hotspots and support innovative new policies. Islington's decision to introduce a diesel surcharge is an interesting one. A similar scheme already operates in Kensington & Chelsea and I believe that such schemes have to be proportionate, reasonable and affordable.

The impact on air quality will depend upon the impact of the scheme on vehicle choice. If this data is available from Islington Council then TfL will be able to make an estimate on the air quality impact.
