The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is responsible for the UK Safety Recalls Scheme, and works with manufacturers to advise owners if vehicles affected by a recall present an immediate danger and should not be used.

TfL, in considering any risks or danger to the travelling public, follows the information and guidance from the DVSA and the vehicle manufacturer when considering recalls. TfL has therefore not suspended private hire vehicle licences due to the recent recall of the Toyota Prius' as neither Toyota or the DVSA have advised TfL that the affected vehicles should not be used.

As is common practice for recalls, the owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Toyota and arrangements made to rectify the software fault.
