The MPS states that they have been in discussion with manufacturers of rapid DNA analysis technology and have carried out a limited evaluation of some of the instruments, in collaboration with the Forensic Science Regulator. The details of this are commercially sensitive and will inform the MPS commercial strategy for future provision of forensic services but there are no plans at present to deploy this technology into an operational environment.
