Question

Residents living on Junction Road are very concerned at the current proposals for the Archway Gyratory removal that would direct heavy traffic into Vorley Road. Will you ask TfL to look into permitting a right turn for buses only to prevent a significant increase in noise, pollution and danger to pedestrians and nursery school children here?

In late 2014, we consulted on proposals to improve Archway gyratory, including the creation of a new public space. The majority of respondents agreed that the proposals would improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, and we made a number of changes to reflect feedback from bus passengers, motorists and local residents.

We have compiled extensive information on existing local traffic flows, and analysed the potential impact of removing Archway Gyratory. While this right turn is required for local access, our analysis suggests significant additional traffic on Vorley Road is unlikely. TfL will closely monitor the effects on traffic following construction and put in place further mitigation measures if required.
