While appreciating the need to progress these works, why is the project management so appalling, and the responsiveness of TfL so dire, that the safety of pedestrians in my constituency is being disregarded with crossings out of action and no temporary alternatives? Furthermore, Tfl seem incapable of responding to repeated concerns expressed about this.

The Cycle Superhighway Route 2 upgrade construction commenced on 9 February 2015. While some level of disruption is inevitable, the project team and contractor have been making every effort to keep disruption to a minimum for all road users.

The footways and pedestrian crossings have been kept open wherever possible during the works but, in some instances, short-term closures have been necessary. Information boards and clearly signed diversion routes are in place. The project team are constantly reviewing the implemented traffic management for opportunities to amend to the benefit of all road users.

One example of this was at Mile End Station, where in addition to an alternative pedestrian crossing being 75m away, a temporary pedestrian crossing has also been installed to address safety concerns.

TfL would welcome any feedback from your constituents and is happy to investigate any area where concerns have been raised.
