With the publication of the College for Policing Code of Ethics, Metropolitan Special Constables (MSCs) will not be able to engage in political activity.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is currently reviewing its precluded occupation policy and are producing new advice for its staff.

The MPS are not aware of any serving MSCs who are currently involved in political activity. Therefore any impact will be limited to future advice to officers and recruitment sifting.
