Question

The MDC now only has one North Circular Road junction in its designated area. That could be used for a new access road across industrial land to Old Oak Common and as far as Scrubs Lane. How soon will the MDC study such a route, which could be a Harlesden bypass, and designated by the MDC for all construction traffic?

Answer

MDC officers will work closely with all the transport organisations including Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, DfT and TfL to identify construction transport impacts at Old Oak Common and Park Royal.  HS2 Ltd is already proposing some local road improvements to serve their construction site.  The wider group will prepare a comprehensive strategy that aims to minimise impacts on the surrounding road network during construction associated with rail projects and the proposed development at Old Oak Common. TfL is preparing a Strategic Transport Study which considers the highway network in detail. This strategy will consider all options for access and encouraging the use of rail and water transport.
