How do you respond to the news that the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has withdrawn its support for the Garden Bridge, citing the high costs of the project?

This is of course a matter for the RSPB and the Garden Bridge Trust. However I find the suggestion that the creation of 2,500m2 of new green space in the centre of London does nothing to benefit birdlife counter-intuitive. 

The Environmental Statement for the Garden Bridge, produced by Arup for the Garden Bridge Trust, states that the Garden Bridge will "…provide a breeding habitat for birds and foraging habitat for bats. Specific measures to encourage invertebrates are included in the design."
