The project cost for Gallions Reach ferry was estimated in the region of £150 million in the River Crossing consultation, which ran from October 2012 to February 2013. This cost was based on a delivery date in 2017/18.

The more recent 'East of Silvertown' consultation, which ran from July to September 2014, revised the estimated cost of a ferry at Gallions Reach to between £150 million to £250 million. The cost is expressed as a range, rather than an absolute figure to reflect some uncertainties around the detailed scope of the scheme and to reflect a delivery date in 2021/22 were this option to proceed.
