Question

In answer to my question 2014/5035 you state that you don't intend to update the typical costs of different household waste treatment options (as set out in your 2011 Municipal Waste Management Strategy) until you revise your Waste Strategy in 2016 or thereafter. Given the huge potential savings of recycling over incineration, will you agree to update and publish this information as a stand-alone report?

My waste officers update cost figures on an annual basis drawing on information from a number of sources including the WRAP annual Gate fee reports, and London Council and Audit Commission research, all of which are publically available. Waste management cost information and appropriate updates will be included in the revision of my waste policy as part of a wider Environment Strategy in 2016.
