Question

In November, the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice, the body responsible for writing the rules for television advertising, announced that it is considering banning adverts from pay day lenders before the watershed. Would Transport for London be able to implement a ban on pay day lenders advertising on the London transport network and, if so, will you consider this at a future board meeting?

TfL continues to monitor Government regulation and industry guidelines, which it follows and applies, in accordance with its published Advertising Policy.

TfL does not exclude the possibility of amending its advertising policy in the future but, as with all other areas of advertising, would prefer to do so on a basis applicable to all media, based on the Codes of the Committee of Advertising Practice and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice.
