Question

Is it reasonable and appropriate for TfL to suggest that local countdown signs be funded from other resources like Section 106 funding? If that is a correct approach can you tell me how many bus stop countdowns are funded through Section 106?

There has previously been significant investment in the upgrade of Countdown signs across the bus network. Section 106 funding is seen as an additional opportunity for boroughs to have more in locations important to them. This process has been in place since 2012. Around 30 third-party-funded Countdown signs have been installed across London so far using this method.
