Question

Given the Mayor welcomed the conclusion of court action over the Oaks Development in Acton in his answer to my question MQT 2014-2831, given that he deemed the project acceptable in strategic planning terms, will he again welcome the fact that yet another judicial review has been rejected, and what actions will he undertake to help ensure that works can get going to bring about much needed regeneration in Acton?

I did support the scheme and consider it a good example of town centre regeneration and intensification. I welcome the fact that the scheme will now be able to proceed.

I recently considered phase 2 of The Oaks development and issued my stage 1 response to the scheme on 18th November 2014 within which I gave it my broad support.  My officers will work with the developers and council officers to ensure that outstanding issues I have raised at stage 1 are addressed before I consider the Stage 2 report. My officers will deal with the scheme as expeditiously as possible once Ealing have referred it to me at Stage 2 and will of course make their own recommendation to me for my consideration on the basis of relevant plan policy and other material considerations.
