As a matter of urgency, will you intervene and ask Transport for London to work with the Royal Borough of Greenwich to find immediate solutions to reduce speeding on Hillreach, SE18 and work with the borough to achieve a longer term solution?

Answer for Hillreach

TfL has been in contact with the Royal Borough of Greenwich to discuss this matter. There are a range of approaches that could be effective in addressing road safety issues due to speeding on Hillreach.

As this is a borough road, Local Implementation Plan (LIP) funding from TfL can be used to invest in measures to improve speed compliance.  I understand that the Royal Borough of Greenwich plans to use LIP funding to undertake a study at this location in the next financial year to identify possible measures to reduce speeds. These measures would be implemented in 2016/17.

In addition, TfL, in partnership with the MPS and City of London Police, is working to roll out Community Roadwatch, where volunteers work with police to improve road compliance.  This programme will be available in all London boroughs by the end of 2015. The concerns raised over speeding at Hillreach have been passed to the local MPS Safer Transport Team, flagging it as a possible location for Community Roadwatch.
