Question

At the Plenary in July discussing culture I asked Munira Mirza about progress towards delivering a capital fund for small theatres, which I was told would probably be launched in the Autumn with the Theatres Trust. Could you provide me with an update on the likely launch date for this and provide more details about the scope of the fund?

The GLA Culture team met with the Theatres Trust in October to progress this initiative and agreed that a new fund will be established called 'London Small Theatres Grants Scheme'. Theatres Trust will approach philanthropic donors for the fund in the new year and hope to be in a position to launch the scheme early in the new year, provided funds have been secured and when the new Chair for the Theatres Trust takes up their position. The scope of the fund will be agreed shortly and is likely to mirror the existing Theatres Trust Theatres Protection Fund Small Grants Scheme.
