Question

Do you nominally support this to keep the East End quiet or do you really support it? If the latter, what proposals do you have to take the idea forwards?

The current proposals for Crossrail 2 include a spur to New Southgate via Alexandra Palace, and a second spur through the Upper Lea Valley via Tottenham Hale. The Business Case for both branches is strong with clear transport benefits delivered through congestion relief to the Victoria and Piccadilly lines, as well as significant economic benefits delivered through regeneration of the Upper Lea Valley.

The current DfT safeguarding includes provision for the first phase of a possible eastern spur via Hackney Central.

TfL and Network Rail will continue to do further work to assess the case for a future eastern spur of Crossrail 2.
