After requesting her presence at a street party in July 2010, I formally appointed Barbara Windsor as the Street Party Ambassador for the Big Lunch in September 2011.  The Big Lunch is coordinated by the Eden Project.

Since becoming my Street Party Ambassador she has voluntarily given her time to attend a wide variety of Street Parties, press launches, radio interviews and other linked activities, including the Downing Street official street party and Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  Barbara's role is to encourage the community to create more street parties, improving community cohesion.  Barbara spends her time at these events speaking to the community, posing for photographs and generally being involved in the events. Barbara intends to continue in this role as long as she is invited to.

As part of this voluntary role, Barbara has also supported the Team London annual awards ceremony. Barbara has given her time for the past 3 years and assisted me with the presentations of the Community awards and the Long Service Awards, adding great value to both the award winners experience and to the overall event. Barbara intends to continue to support this flagship reward and recognition event for Team London.
