What advice will you be giving to Londoners and visitors who have not purchased a ticket, want to view the fireworks and will be busy revelling, or indeed walking along the embankment near midnight, in central London on New Year's Eve?

Please see my response to oral MQ 5272 /2014. My advice to the general public is as follows:

This year you'll need a ticket to come to the fireworks display. If you don't have a ticket you can still watch all the action live on BBC1.

There are hundreds of other New Year's Eve celebrations to enjoy in bars, restaurants and clubs across the capital. Please be aware that Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square will not have screens.

Remember, London will be very busy on the night, so plan ahead.

The Embankment will be closed to the general public. Anyone approaching the barrier line will be informed of the message above, and directed to the walking route to detour around the event.
