The £25m award to London was based on an ambitious target to award connection vouchers to 10,000 SMEs in London. I have always set ambitious targets for officials to pursue.

We have changed the application process for SMEs and the pace of applications has subsequently picked up.  We have now issued 2,232 vouchers to SMEs and spent or committed a total of over £6.5m in grant.

London is among the best performing cities nationally, currently accounting for approximately 40% of total vouchers issued. This proportion is growing weekly.
