The Renaisi report referenced in question 2014/2735 was commissioned specifically so it could inform the London Legacy Development Corporation's Local Plan, which was recently submitted to the Planning Inspectorate.

The Local Plan designates locations for employment uses, which can include creative workspaces and seeks to maintain the overall amount of employment use as well as encouraging the provision of affordable work space within new developments.

Recently permitted schemes, such as Neptune Wharf and Here East include such affordable work space, with the latter specifically providing specialist studios aimed at artists, designers and craftspeople.

As part of the Hackney Wick masterplan being prepared by the Legacy Corporation, a consultation process will be undertaken to take the views of the local communities and businesses into account.

This approach aims to ensure that existing businesses, including creative industries can remain in the area and form part of the new development in Hackney Wick, while also meeting housing and other development needs in the area.
