The table below shows the number of casualties resulting from collisions involving a hit and run vehicle in London during 2013.  This table is broken down by ethnic group, as recorded by the police.

Casualties resulting from hit and run collisions have fallen by almost a third between 2003 and 2013, with reductions across all ethnic groups.  The number of people killed or seriously injured in hit and run collisions has also more than halved since 2003, to the lowest number on record.

A hit and run collision is where a vehicle left the scene prematurely, without exchanging details or awaiting the arrival of the police. It is important to note that the hit and run vehicle did not necessarily cause the collision or directly injure the casualty.
